He fires an employee right before the holidays and ignores his brother. On the night before Christmas, the ghost of his former boss appears to him, warning him about the visit of three spirits. The spirits of the Past, Present and Future consistently guide Frank through the stages of his life: they show how he turned from a romantic young man into a heartless miser, demonstrate the suffering of those he betrayed, and the gloomy loneliness that awaits him. Shaken to the core, Frank sees the light. On the live broadcast of his own show, he breaks the program and, addressing millions of viewers, calls on everyone to remember the true spirit of Christmas — kindness, love and caring for others. He publicly reconciles with his beloved and starts a new life.
